Line drawing books for Classes 1-5

The art of drawing in the curriculum of primary schools in the State was introduced methodically and systematically for the first time by N Swarnalatha, an award-winning and consummate artist and a social activist.

At the Holistic Education Book Launch held recently in the city and the artist released five volumes of line drawing workbooks for Classes 1 to 5. The step-by-step approach of line drawing was curated after a lotof research.


These line drawing workbooks have been created exclusively to plug the gaps in education and fulfil the imperative need to teach students the magic of art in a simple, easy and interesting manner.


N Swarnalatha is the only artist from south India who won an award in the ‘100 Women Achievers of India’, from the then President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. She campaigned on social issues through her art.


The dignitaries present at the event were Madras High Court judge R Mahadevan; senior advocate R Gandhi; ADGP M Ravi; artist Troskimaruthu; Canara Bank Officers Association, general secretary GV Manimaran; Founder, The Rise, Fr Jegath Gaspar Raj; VC, Bar Council of India, S Prabakaran; TN Association of Women Advocates president K Santhakumari; Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Adyar, principal Srinivasa Raghavan and advocate P Chandrasekaran.
