Phone, chain snatched from women in city
A woman lost five sovereigns to snatchers in Teynampet, while another was relieved of her mobile phone near Loyola College by a bike-borne duo.

Sumi Mathew (49), who came to visit his son studying in Loyola College, was waiting outside the college premises after booking a cab online when a bike-borne duo snatched her phone and fled. The Nungambakkam police have registered a case about the incident and further investigation is on.
In another incident, Srimathi of Egmore was returning home on a two-wheeler with her husband from a temple on Monday night when two men followed her on another bike and snatched her five-sovereign chain before fleeing the spot. Based on her complaint, Teynampet police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the suspects.
Meanwhile, a daily wage labourer was attacked by a man in a bid to snatch his phone in Egmore on Monday night. Abdul Rahman (20) of Jharkhand was walking home when an unidentified man intercepted and asked him to hand over his phone. When Abdul Rahman refused, the man attacked him with a knife and fled the spot. The Egmore police have launched a hunt for the suspect based on a complaint.
