Man injured after snatchers on bikes escape with phone in Nolambur

Working in tandem, a four-member snatching gang on two bikes not only made away with the mobile phone of a man at Nolambur, but also hit the victim’s bike to ensure that he did not follow them. The police have registered a case over the incident that happened on Friday night, and are searching for the gang.

The incident happened when the victim, E Manikandan (25) of Villivakkam who works as a technician at a private eye hospital on Nolambur Main Road, was returning home on his bike on Friday night. 

Around 9 pm, Manikandan stopped his bike to attend a phone call when two men on a bike snatched his phone and fled the spot. Manikandan tried to chase the duo, but two others who came on another bike kicked the victim’s bike from behind. Due to this, Manikandan lost control of the vehicle and fell on road.

After getting treated at a private hospital, Manikandan lodged a complaint at Nolambur police station and a case was registered. A hunt has been launched for the four-member gang with the help of CCTV footage retrieved from the locality.

Duo relieves woman of 11 sovereigns

A woman was relieved of her 11-sovereign chain by a bike-borne duo in Mogappair on Friday evening. Latha (52), who runs a grocery store in the locality, was on her way to the shop when two men on a bike followed her and snatched her chain before fleeing the spot. Based on her complaint, the JJ Nagar police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
