The police said that Kadambadi was stabbed by unidentified men on a two-wheeler. Kadambadi sustained injuries on his leg and was admitted to a private hospital.
The incident happened around 8 pm when Kadambadi, an organic food shop owner from Kotturpuram, was waiting for his friend after finishing his evening walk.
Two men on a two-wheeler, who reportedly came to the park, failed to bring the vehicle to a halt and hit Kadambadi on the knee. Kadambadi scolded the men on the bike. It led to a heated argument between them and the duo allegedly assaulted Kadambadi.
When Kadambadi tried to catch them, they took out a knife and stabbed him on the knee. After hearing his cries, those who were walking inside the park came running, but the duo sped away on the bike.
The walkers alerted the Kotturpuram police and took him to a private hospital on Chamiers Road. The police launched a hunt for the duo with the help of the identity given by the victim. The attackers were in their twenties and probably drunk, noted the police.
The police have collected CCTV footages from the route the accused would have taken.
