The arrested man was identified as Raj Bharath. Based on a complaint registered by Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Palavanthangal, the Vepery police arrested the suspect on Friday.
According to the police, Raj had befriended Pradeep through a common friend a few years ago.
“Pradeep had asked Raj’s help to find a job for him and he promised a junior manager post at a nationalised bank. For the same, Raj had taken Rs three lakh from him. Following this, Pradeep had introduced three of his friends to Raj and they also paid Rs 3 lakh each for the jobs, the police noted.
When they did not get any offer letter from the bank as promised by Raj, they realised they were cheated. Following which, Pradeep registered a complaint and the police arrested Raj.
