The accused, identified as A Antony (19) of Azhagiri Nagar in Thousand Lights and N Natarajan (20), a pavement dweller from Veppur, were booked under Sections 294 (b) 341, 324 and 506(ii) of the IPC and were remanded in judicial custody.

The police said that Antony was working at footwear showroom in the mall and quit a few days ago and he was attacked by one M Kesavan (22) of Vyasarpadi, who works at an opticals showroom, on Sunday night after an argument erupted between them.

For revenge, Antony reached the mall with Natarajan and attacked Kesavan at the showroom on the second floor of the mall on Monday afternoon. When others in the showroom tried to catch the duo, they took out a machete and threatened to attack them.

While they fled the spot, the police control room was alerted and a team from Thousand Lights police station secured the duo within an hour. The machete was seized from them and further investigation is on whether the duo has any cases pending against them.
