Theft at Jayabharathi’s house, 2 staff arrested

The police arrested two persons working at veteran actor Jayabharathi’s house for allegedly stealing 31 sovereigns of gold ornaments from her house in Nungambakkam.

While one suspect, identified as Ibrahim, was working as a part-time driver, the other, Hark Bahadur, had been her security guard for the last six years, the police noted. On Thursday, she lodged a complaint at the Nungambakkam police station stating that 31 sovereigns of gold jewels were stolen from her house. Based on the complaint the Nungambakkam police registered a case. 

The police arrested Ibrahim, who joined as a temporary car driver, and security guard Harak Bahadur, who allegedly stole the jewels after sneaking into the house, while the actor was alone at home. The police said that the duo entered the house on the pretext of helping the elderly actor and stole the jewels. The duo was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
