The passenger was then taken for thermal screening where it was confirmed that he was not infected. However, the passenger got himself admitted to the RGGGH.
The security officials were checking the passengers about to board the Air India flight to Port Blair at 9.30 am when Abishek China of Port Blair told the officials that he was infected by coronavirus. Even as passengers in the queue got panicked and stepped backwards, higher officials came to the spot and isolated the techie. The latter then told officials that he had travelled to Italy a few weeks ago and had returned to Delhi on March 4.
Though the thermal scanning at Delhi airport too cleared him, Abishek was not satisfied as he was having cough and cold.
The techie told the officials that he has symptoms of coronavirus and that he hasn’t got proper treatment in Port Blair. After officials took Abishek for thermal screening and asked him to board the flight since he was perfectly fine, the techie was not willing to go to Port Blair and demanded hospitalisation. Meanwhile, the Air India flight to Port Blair departed and the officials allowed Abishek to visit the hospital and get himself admitted.
