The civic body has also sent a communication to Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) to keep ticket vending machines, ticket counters, hand railings and chairs on its premises clean by using 2.5 per cent Lysol.

“Hangings inside the trains and door handles should be cleaned after each trip. Housekeeping personnel should wear a mask, gloves and an apron before initiating disinfection process,” Chennai Corporation directed Metro Rail.

CMRL management should conduct disinfection procedures every day and send a daily report to the civic body by 4 pm.
