An official release said Bansal would take charge of the Commissioner of Land Administration which was being held by Dr J Radhakrishnan as additional charge. Yadav was asked to hold the post of Principal Secretary of Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi department as full additional charge until further orders.

The CMRL Employees’ Union, which is affiliated to CITU, had urged the Chief Minister last month to remove Bansal for holding the post for a long time. CPI (M) Rajya Sabha MP and CITU national Vice President TK Rangarajan and CITU State President A Soundararajan called on Chief Minister in February to take up the CMRL workers issue and other labour related issues. “The management refuses to adhere to the labour department’s advice and implement labour welfare acts. The Metro management is taking vindictive action on the employees if they questioned the appointment of untrained workers in the posts of permanent employees which could endanger the safety of the commuters,” (sic) Rangarajan tweeted.
