On Monday early morning, a group of five masked men with wooden logs and knives barged into the house while they were sleeping. The police said that the group entered the house after breaking the backside door and threatened the family at knifepoint before tying their limbs with a rope and locking them inside a room. The gang robbed 18 sovereigns of ornaments, 2 kg of silver and Rs 50,000 from the locker. They threatened to kill the family if they file a police complaint and fled the spot.
The police said that the couple managed to untie themselves and filed a complaint with the Maraimalai Nagar police. A police team visited the house and registered a case. A search is on to trace the robbers with the help of CCTV footage from the locality.
