SRM IST Ramapuram conducts ‘Save nature, save life’ walkathon
Students from SRM Institute of Science and Technology Ramapuram campus participated recently in a walkathon with the theme “Save nature, save life’, throwing light on the existing threats to the nature.

The walkathon was held at Elliots beach In the city. The event was flagged off by SRM Group of Instituition, Ramapuram director V Subbiah Bharathi.
Nearly 1,000 students of various departments took part in the walkathon wearing white shirt and white cap, bearing the logo and theme of the walkathon.
Apart from students, staff and kids participated in the event. The walkathon of 3 km started from Elliots beach and went through Rajaji Bhavan, Annai Velankanni Shrine, Murugan Idli shop and ended up at the starting point of Elliots beach.
The participants held eco-friendly placards on topics regarding nature such as global warming, climatic changes, animal extinctions, depletion of water and natural resources, deforestation and improper waste management techniques.
The members carried seedballs and saplings during the walkathon to raise awareness among the public on planting more trees and to destroy less. In addition to this, awareness on coronavirus epidemic was included to help in preventing the spread of the virus.
