5-year-old girl missing from Chennai Central traced to Telangana

The girl, Pammi Kumari, had come to the city with her father Manojkumar, a paramilitary personnel, mother and one-and-half-year-old brother to get treated for her eye problem at Sankara Nethralaya.

They reached Chennai Central to board Gorakhpur-bound Rapthisagar Express to return to their hometown on Wednesday night. When the train arrived from Thiruvananthapuram, the family tried to board the train but missed their daughter in the crowd. 

After searching in their coach and the platform, they lodged a complaint with the Railway police around 1.15 am. When they combed the CCTV footage to check whether she was kidnapped, the police found the girl walking along the platform for a distance. They alerted all the stations along the train route to check if the girl was inside the train itself.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at Ramagundam railway station in Telangana found the girl sleeping in another coach and rescued her. The photos were shared with the police at Chennai Central railway and her parents confirmed that it was indeed theirmissing daughter. 

When contacted, officials said that the girl was safe and added that they were on their way to Ramagundam with the parents. As a lot of people are returning to their hometown owing to coronavirus scare, the Chennai Central is more crowded than the usual, said the police.
