According to the residents, the deadly coronavirus spreading across the globe is creating panic among them. “We had already suffered a lot during the 2015 floods, following which we have taken this initiative to keep our roads clean and neat,” said a resident.
Sources said there are 12 wards in Mudichur panchayat with a population of 16,000. The people had planned to clean their streets by spraying water mixed with turmeric and salt.
“Everyday morning and evening, we are spraying this water on the streets here. All the residents have agreed to do the same outside their houses,” they added.
The residents have made the arrangements to cover all the roads in Mudichur, and added that it would continue till the spread of thevirus is arrested.
On Saturday, the residents began the initiative from Ponniamman Nagar. On Sunday, everyone would remain indoors to observe Janata Curfew and continue with the spraying operation from Monday.
