City based company’s drone to sanitise roads, buildings, gets selected by UP govt

“Our company first signed MOU with the State government to spread sanitisers in the government hospitals across the State. On seeing our work, Uttar Pradesh government has signed a MOU to spray sanitisers across Varanasi constituency which is the home constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and President, Garuda Aerospace pvt ltd, told DT Next. To overcome the challenge in spraying sanitisers using sanitary workers, the company which initially focussed on agricultural activities turned out to combat COVID-19.

“Initially, our company was involved in spraying fertilizers and pesticides in farm lands but when corona virus started to spread we thought of spraying sanitisers through the same drones will be useful. We approached the state Health Department with the idea and they too were impressed on seeing our work”, said Agnishwar. Atleast 5,000 drones would be needed to cover the entire country In the beginning, only the government hospitals were focussed but before couple of days, the Electricity department signed an MOU with the drone company to spray sanitisers in the power stations based on which 25 substations in Chennai are being sanitized on a regular basis through drones. “On a hot day, a worker can spray sanitisers for a maximum of four to five kilometre but a drone can spray 120 litres of sanitisers per day covering 50 kilometre. Also, spraying sanitisers on a building with more than two floors is a challenging task but using drones buildings with the height of 400 feet can be covered,” he said.

The Centre has also sought proposal to spray sanitisers across the nation. “Our country has 3.28 lakh square kilometers and to cover the entire country we need atleast 5,000 drones. Our company has replied to the Central government about our plan to santize the entire country,” said Agnishwar. The drone named as Corona Killer-100 or CK-100, is also in high demand as Spain and a State administration in Brazil have ordered drones to spray sanitisers.
