CMDA to deliver veggies at doorsteps
The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has launched home delivery of vegetables and fruits from the Koyambedu wholesale market from Wednesday.

D Karthikeyan, CMDA membersecretary said that each package consists of 18 types of vegetables and 8 varieties of fruits. “One package is enough for 25 families and the items will be sold at the price fixed by the Koyambedu market management committee. Resident associations, who have more than 25 families can place orders for vegetables and fruits through phone (7305050541, 7305050542, 7305050543, 7305050544, 9025653376 and 24791133) or through CMDA website (www.cmdachennai. gov.in),” he said.
The planning authority that maintains the market has arranged 50 vehicles for delivering vegetables. The market management committee also made arrangements to home deliver vegetables and fruits if they place orders through Swiggy, Zomato and Dunzo. “CMDA will also sell vegetables by using vehicles at slum clearance board areas, poor and middle-class localities,” Karthikeyan said.
Also, the CMDA will also release daily rates of vegetables on its web portal. Residents should place orders before 1 pm every day to receive the vegetables on the same day.
