According to Chennai Corporation Commissioner G Prakash, the State government has given as many as 6,000 rapid test kits for the civic body’s usage. “The rapid test kits will be used to test the frontline workers including sanitary workers, health workers and police personnel posted in containment zones,” Prakash said.
He said the government will supply the rapid test kits on a daily basis, based on the requirement. Assuring city-wide controlling measures, Prakash said even though Ambattur and Manali do not have positive cases, the civic body is continuing its measures in the two zones. Of the 6,300 samples collected from 26 sample collection kiosks, the civic body has identified as many as 50 positive cases.
