The deceased were identified as Rajangam, a painter and a resident of Perungalathur, and his daughters Kala (45) and Sumithra (32).
Police said Kala was married and was residing in Telangana. She came to Perungalathur last month to visit her daughter and was unable to return following the lockdown. Sumithra was a specially-abled child.
Police said the wall was in a dilapidated condition. On Sunday night, after dinner, the trio was sitting on a cot outside their house when the wall, which surrounds an adjacent vacant land, collapsed and fell on them. In the impact, all three suffered severe injuries.
On hearing their cries, the neighbours rushed to the spot and began rescue operations.
Peerkankaranai police, with the help of 108 ambulances, rushed the trio to Chromepet government hospital.
While Rajangam was declared brought dead by the hospital, Sumithra and Kalad died without responding to treatment on Monday morning.
Peerkankaranai police registered a case and are looking for the landowner who failed to maintain the compound wall properly. Sources said Rajangam has five daughters.
