Anna University, IIT-B to hold online COVID-19 hackathon

Anna University will join with top institutions, including IIT-Bombay, Madras School of Social Work and Climate Smart Technologies (CST), to organise a national level COVID-19 bioinformatics online hackathon from April 27.

In this contest, each full-stack developer has to publish a working app in Google Play Store and web application online.

A total of 25 topics have been identified for the event to integrate into disaster risk management apps to repurpose them as comprehensive app, covering issues like stranded migrant labor tracking, labour shelter mapping, volunteers’ registration and assigning work, public healthcare locations for COVID 19, medical stores, health workers assigning, patient input data on fever, symptoms, doctor online appointment among others.

“This hackathon would be a real challenge to showcase the skills of IT students, faculties from all institutes imparting technical education nationally,” said MK Surappa, Vice Chancellor, Anna University.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is encouraging all technical institutes nationally to participate in this event, while National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has consented to be a part of the event.

IIT-Bombay will connect the entire spoken tutorial project programming certified students to participate.
