Cybercrime cell asks Twitter user to delete ‘misleading’ videos

However, with the cell’s handle remaining unverified, many are left wondering if it really belonged to the cyber cell.

On Tuesday, social media was buzzing after @ CCBCyberCell asked details of a person who posted ‘misleading’ videos of Health Secretary Beela Rajesh in which she was talking about two different COVID statistics in two different times.

“The video creates an impression that she is contradicting herself. But she is talking about all India situation in the first video and Tamil Nadu situation in second,” said a senior CCB officer.

A complaint has been received from the director of public health and preventive medicine, he added.

“Ours is not yet a verified official handle, but that will not stop us asking certain twitter users, against whom we have received complaints, to delete their posts that are filled with misinformation,” the officer said when asked about genuineness of the account @CCBCyberCell.

The account description says it is the official handle of Chennai city cybercrime cell.

According to the officer, this was not the first time the city cybercrime cell has asked social media users to remove or delete posts that are found to be in bad taste or communal in nature.

Since the lockdown started, more than 250 social media posts were removed after cyber cell followed it up with the ones who posted it or Twitter, the officer added.
