Chennai

An Inspector and two Sub-Inspectors were among 15 more police personnel who tested positive for COVID-19 in the city on Wednesday.

Among them, eight were said to be working at the DGP headquarters, which include an Inspector and a Sub-Inspector who are part of the technical services unit. Similarly, an intelligence officer and a security cop of the Chennai Police Commissionerate too reportedly tested positive on Wednesday.

The other sub-inspector who has now tested positive is attached to Choolaimedu.

While four more Armed Reserve constables too have contracted the virus, a police standing officer at Anna Nagar station has also tested positive. All of them have been admitted in special wards at different hospitals and the areas of their residences have been sanitised.

Similarly, two more Fire and Rescue personnel too tested positive on Wednesday. Attached to Vepery fire station, they are suspected to be the contacts of the newly posted officer in the station.

Meanwhile, the Anna Nagar Deputy Commissioner, who was admitted to a private hospital for COVID-19 was discharged on Wednesday.
