SI of Aminjikarai station, eight cops test positive

A sub-inspector and a home guard from Aminjikarai police station were among nine police personnel tested positive for COVID-19 in the city on Sunday.

The sub-inspector, who was recently promoted from SSI post, had been given rest as he was above 50 years of age.

However, he is said to have visited the station in plain clothes. While he has been admitted at KMC, the station premises has been sanitised by the corporation.

The other seven police personnel are part of TSP battalion at Avadi, posted at Koyambedu for bandobast

 duty in April.

All of them have been admitted to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and Omandurar Government Hospital. 

While about 25 personnel from the battalion have already been tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic, the rest of the battalion have given the samples and are awaiting test results.
