The workers, from Odisha and Jharkhand, who stayed at makeshift huts, claimed that they were not paid even by the contractor for the work they have done so far. They also said that they lived in abysmal condition without proper food ever since the lockdown was announced.

They demanded the intervention of authorities to force the contractor to clear their salary dues. They also sought governmental steps to facilitate their safe travel to their home state.

Police and revenue officials held talks with them and assured them to look into their demands. Following this, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
