After more than 100 guest workers gathered at the entrance of the junction, police held talks with them and convinced them that they have to apply online to be eligible to travel. The labourers argued that they have heard about additional trains being operated, but later dispersed. Some of them went to the Corporation office to register themselves as stranded migrant workers.

Railway police said the guest workers left the community halls they had been lodged at and started living on the pavement on their own. “They were not aware of the procedure, but they understood when we explained and dispersed,” said an official. Meanwhile, a special train to Bihar departed from Central with 1,464 passengers around 5.30 pm.
