Door-to-door screening to find more coronavirus cases in State
The number of COVID-19 cases in the State is likely to go up even further, as the healthcare workers have started door-to-door screening of patients with influenza-like illnesses (ILI), said officials from the State Health Department

In the 1,369 containment areas across the State, people with influenza-like illnesses are being tested for fever and chest congestion by the newly appointed health inspectors. In all, 23,829 healthcare workers have been deployed across Tamil Nadu to carry out the door-to-door screening.
“The door-to-door screening will help to identify more number of index cases with increased testing of individuals. The testing has been intensified in Chennai which has the most number of COVID-19 cases. Within the city, the screening has been initiated in Royapuram initially, as it has a high number of containment areas,” said a senior official from Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
The healthcare staff are using mobile x-ray machines to check for chest congestion. Officials said those with comorbid conditions would be identified and taken for sample testing.
Tiruvottiyur sanitary inspector tests positive for virus
A sanitary inspector attached to Tiruvottiyur zone was confirmed positive for COVID-19 and has been admitted to hospital on Thursday. According to the sources, affected field-official is the second sanitary inspector to be tested positive for the disease. “A few days ago, a sanitary inspector attached to Teynampet zone was tested positive. Sanitary inspectors had been deployed for COVID-19 control measures in their zones,” sources said. Already 35 employees of the civic body, including assistant revenue officers and assistant executive engineers, have been tested positive.
