Accident victim lands on roof of car, travels 2 km before police rescue him
A businessman who rammed his car into a two-wheeler near Maduravoyal on Sunday night tried to flee the spot without realising that the victim had fallen on the roof of the car. He also carried the victim for 2 kms until traffic police chased and intercepted him to rescue the rider.

Ranjithkumar (27) of Ayapakkam, a private firm employee, was on his way to Vanagaram on his two-wheeler when a speeding car hit him on Vanagaram-Ambattur road. In the impact, Ranjithkumar was thrown off his bike and landed on the roof of the car.
Ganesamoorthy of Virugambakkam, who was driving the car, did not realise that the 27-year-old had landed on the car roof and tried to flee. Traffic police personnel who were still patrolling the streets, witnessed the entire incident, chased the car and stopped him two kilometres away. Ranjithkumar was rescued and rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. He is said to be stable.
While Ganesamoorthy initially claimed that he could not stop the car as the brakes had failed, he later admitted that he had tried to escape. He was handed over to Koyambedu traffic investigation police and the car was seized.
Police said Ganesamoorthy is a wholesale vegetable vendor in Koyamebdu market complex and that the accident occurred when he was on his way to the temporary vegetable market in Tirumazhisai. Further investigation is on.
