98 Indians, including 3 kids, brought home from Mauritius

A total of 98 Indians reached Chennai on a special flight from Mauritius on Tuesday night and on the same flight, 110 Mauritian citizens departed to their country on Wednesday.

The special flight from Mauritius reached the Chennai airport around 6 pm on Tuesday with 98 Indians, including three children. All the passengers were brought to the arrival hall and made to stand by maintaining social distancing. After completing the COVID-19 swab tests and the customs and the immigration checkup, all the passengers were guided to the exit to board the special vehicles to quarantine camps, which were arranged by the government. Sources said that 36 of them chose the free stay in a college hostel and others chose to stay in hotels. As many as 28 of them were from Telangana and they were sent to Hyderabad in a special bus.

The 110 Mauritian citizens who were stuck in India for the past two months got special permission from the Central government and boarded the flight which brought Indians home. It departed from Chennai airport around 8 am on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, 42 domestic flights were operated on Wednesday and services to Kadapa and Selam were resumed from Wednesday.
