DRT adjourns case as bank counsel appears in t-shirt for online hearing

While the Supreme Court, in a May 13 order, had only exempted lawyers from wearing the customary black gowns and coats while attending the virtual hearings given the medical advice that there is a greater possibility of the Covid-19 spread through these robes, in this case, despite any similar order, the counsel found a tt-shirt apt for the occasion.
According to the apex court order, the counsels can appear in a plain white shirt and white salwar and saree along with a plain neckband. Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT - 1) Judge Dr NV Badarinath while taking up the hearing to pronounce the order, noticed the counsel in a colourful t-shirt and adjourned the case to June 2. “The case is taken up for passing orders. Despite clear instructions, counsel for the applicant bank appeared wearing a blue t-shirt,” read Judge Badarinath’s order.
