Actress’ grandson receives 40 stitches after gang attack
An armed gang attacked a 39-year-old man on his doorstep in Saligramam over previous enmity on Wednesday night. The victim J Vignesh Kumar alias Vicky is the grandson of veteran actress Krishnakumari and the incident happened in front of her, said police. Vignesh Kumar’s mother Maya is also an actress and is said to have played supporting roles in a few movies.

Police said that Vignesh Kumar does not have a proper job and is addicted to ganja. Since he often indulged in quarrels and there were a number of complaints against him, Virugambakkam police have started maintaining a register as they do for the history-sheeters.
A few days ago, Vignesh Kumar allegedly attacked one Kannan under the influence of drugs. Kannan, who wanted to take revenge on Vignesh Kumar, reached the latter’s house at Dhasarathapuram Wednesday night along with seven others and hacked him in 10 places across the body.
While the gang fled the spot, his grandmother Krishnakumari rushed him to a private hospital in Vadapalani with the help of neighbours, where he received 40 stitches. He is said to be stable.
Though Vignesh has refused to lodge a complaint against the attackers, Virugambakkam police have identified the suspects as Sathish Kumar, Kannan, Kutti and Perumal and have launched a hunt for them with the help of CCTV footage.
