Conduct door to door testing in city: Leader of Opposition MK Stalin

Leader of Opposition M K Stalin on Thursday urged Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to be transparent and conduct door to door testing in Chennai to control the spread of coronavirus. Stalin also attributed the spurt in positive cases in the State capital to keeping asymptomatic patients in home quarantine.

Reiterating that the State government was reducing the number of tests to show fewer positive cases, Stalin said the CM should realise that disease cannot be hidden and any attempt to conceal was fraught with the danger of self-deceit. “Urging the government to pay special attention to the State capital and not evade its duty after sending asymptomatic patients to home quarantine,” he added.

The LoP said the spurt in positive cases among doctors/nurses of GHs in Chennai, police and media personnel suggests that people on the frontline of defence against Covid-19 were not safe. They were infected because of the government’s failure in isolating them, he charged. “Are asymptomatic patients in home quarantine monitored by the people? Will cases increase daily in Chennai if they were monitored by the government? What kind of discussion is the CM engaged in daily?,”questioned Stalin.
