Limited bank services allowed and autos, taxis for airport, station

State government issued a government order (GO) providing relaxations to allow banks to function from June 20 to 26 in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu. However, not direct services to the public is permitted.

“Headquarters of banks and financial institutions are permitted to function with minimal staff only, from June 20 to 26. The bank branches with minimal staff may function from 10 am to 2 pm for cash transactions relating to distributors and retail dealers of essential items,” said Chief Secretary K Shanmugam in the order, adding that no direct services to public was permitted.

In relaxations for other sectors, autos and taxis are allowed to ferry passengers from railway stations and airports, the order said. Sea ports will be permitted to handle cargo for essential commodities, medical equipment and other medical services. Telecom and IT services can function with minimal staff and e-pass will be provided only to workers list provided by the companies.

If workers are staying within the premises of industries, they need not be tested. The Industry department will issue e-passes to managerial and supervisory categories for movement in and out of Greater Chennai Police Commissionerate areas and other areas enforcing lockdown to their industrial units.

These will be valid for the entire period of lockdown, said Shanmugam.
