July 15 last date to pay power bill, says Tangedco

Tangedco on Saturday extended the deadline for payment of electricity bills for low-tension consumers, including domestic connections, and high-tension consumers in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts till July 15.

An official release said that with the enforcement of the complete lockdown from June 19 to 30 in the four districts, the time for payment has been extended till July 15 for all the LT and LTCT consumers, whose last date for the payment falls between March 25 and July 14.

As a precautionary measure, the consumers from these four districts whose reading date is from June 19 to 30 were advised to adopt previous month billing for the LT and the LTCT services, it said, adding that taking into consideration the non-functioning of banks, the collection counters of Tangedco in the four districts would not function till June 30. The consumers should make use of the online payment facilities.

The HT consumers who have not made payment within the due dates for the HT assessment from February to May, for which it had foregone its right to disconnect, could make payment till July 15, the power utility added.

“Tangedco will not resort to disconnection till July 15. The HT consumers can make use of the RTGS facility for payment. The collection counters at the circle offices shall remain open for facilitating payment during lockdown,” it said.
