In his petition, V Balaji of Otteri stated that he was on his way to buy milk and fruits for his children from a nearby shop around 7 am on Saturday when police stopped his two-wheeler.

“I politely informed Deputy Commissioner S Rajeshkannan about my health condition and urgency of the need to travel by two-wheeler, though I understand the rule that travel by two-wheeler is not allowed. However, without listening to me, he removed the keys from my two-wheeler and threw it into the nearby canal,” the petition said.

When contacted, Balaji said he submitted his petitions in various forums as the police official has caused mental agony to him.

He said that he was asked to take his two-wheeler the same day, but he had to hire another vehicle to carry the two-wheeler since he did not have spare keys.
