The data also revealed that the Royapuram zone, the worst hit zone among the 15 zones, has a higher number of recovered persons when compared to other zones. As many as 4,405 persons have recovered and 2,683 persons are currently under treatment. Tondiarpet, Teynampet and Kodambakkam zones have 3,688, 3,461 and 3,265 recovered persons respectively.

Aiming to reduce the caseload in government hospitals and to ensure timely treatment, the Chennai Corporation is operating COVID care centres to treat asymptomatic patients. “We have cured around 250 patients at the COVID care centres by using Siddha medicines. For the persons tested positive now under home quarantine, we have appointed volunteers to help them with essential items,” said a Corporation official.
