60-year-old murdered over land dispute, kin held
A 60-year-old man was stabbed to death by his kin over a property dispute in the wee hours of Thursday in Gummidipoondi and the suspect was secured within hours.

The incident happened around 2 am when the deceased, Gopal of Bazaar street in New Gummidipoondi, was sleeping on the verandah of his house, while his family members were asleep inside.
As his family members heard Gopal’s cries, they rushed out and saw him lying dead in a pool of blood with, injuries all over the body. On information, Gummidipoondi police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Inquiries revealed that Gopal was involved in a dispute with his relative Gajendran (52) of the same locality over a property. During interrogation, he admitted that it was he who murdered Gopal. He was immediately remanded in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the Tiruvottiyur police have arrested three persons including a woman on the charges of murder for killing a pavement dweller.
The accused, Abdul Kalim, Kalimullah and Sahidha, were remanded in judicial custody. Inquiries revealed that Sahidha developed a relationship with the deceased, Raja, and decided to eliminate him as he abused her.
With the help of the other two, she killed him on Tuesday night and left the body in an autorickshaw. The police identified the deceased on Wednesday and arrested the trio after investigation.
