27 more succumb to coronavirus in Chennai

As per reports, 27 persons have died due to COVID-19 complications as on Monday afternoon.

The latest reports said that around 27 people have died in Chennai in 12 hours. The highest toll was reported in Rajiv Gandhi Hospital with 8, 6 from Stanley Hospital, 6 including an Armed Reserve officer from Omanthoorar Hospital, 4 from a private hospital in Thousand Lights area and 3 in Kilpauk Hospital.

Meanwhile, Chennai reported 24,890 active cases. Among them, Kodambakkam remained at top with 2,837 people under treatment followed by Royapuram (2,416), Anna Nagar (2,349), Teynampet (2,317) and Tondiarpet (2,275).

  • Adyar - 1,913
  • Thiru Vi Ka Nagar - 1,858
  • Thiruvotriyur - 1,214

Nearby Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Thiruvallur district also witnessed rise in cases 

  • Kanchipuram - 90 fresh cases, total 2,637
  • Chengalpattu - 86 new cases, total 6,719 (Deaths- 119, discharged/recovered- 3,445, under treatment - 3,068) 
  • Thiruvallur - 166 new cases, total 4,972 (Deaths- 94, discharged/recovered- 3062, under treatment - 1816)
