Covid recovery rate at 74 percent, 18,616 active cases in Chennai

Despite the state capital Chennai continuing to lead the Covid-19 infection chart, the recovery rate seems to have made a turnaround given the marginal decline in number of daily cases and increase in discharges/recoveries.

Chennai reported 18,616 active cases on Saturday, according to a bulletin released by Greater Chennai Corporation.

The data said that the recovery rate has improved to around 74%, with a total of 55,156 recoveries out of 74,969 cases. 1,196 deaths have been reported in Chennai.

Kodambakkam remained at top of active cases list with 2,383 persons under treatment followed by Anna Nagar (2,075) and Teynampet (1,868).

COVID-19 tests were being done in 53 government and 48 private labs all over the state, according to TN health ministry.
