Man held for marrying minor in city

Tirumangalam all-women police detained a man for marrying a 16-year-old girl.

The victim’s father lodged a complaint at the Koyambedu police station on Sunday that his daughter was missing. After receiving information that the girl was in Maduravoyal, a team from the station went there and rescued her. Investigation revealed that one Ajith (24) had married her. Both the victim and the accused were handed over to Tirumangalam all-women police station. Further investigation is on.

Meanwhile, Aminjikarai police arrested a man for peeking into a restroom used by women. The accused, J Selvam (32) of Shenoy Nagar, is a private firm employee, said police. Selvam was secured by neighbours on Monday night when he allegedly tried to peek into the toilet of a house in Railway Colony. A few girls who were staying in the house lodged a complaint at Aminjikarai police station. The man was released on station bail after being booked.
