According to data from the civic body, of the 4.24 lakh people presently under the home quarantine, 1.07 lakh have given swab samples for testing and are awaiting results. Overall, 1.98 lakh people were home quarantined for giving samples, of which 79,129 completed the quarantine period as on July 15.

"On Wednesday alone, 11,810 persons have given samples for test and were sent to home quarantine. They will continue to remain in home quarantine along with their family members until the results are released. If the samples test positive, they would continue to remain in quarantine," said an official.

Of the 4.24 lakh people under home quarantine, 1.58 lakh are contacts of infected persons and 1.19 lakh are COVID-19 positive persons. Till Wednesday, 3.80 lakh people have completed the home quarantine.

The civic body has been sending asymptomatic positive persons to home quarantine if they have a separate room and toilet at their houses. Once they complete 14-day home quarantine, the restrictions would be removed.

What has raised concerns among officials is several persons, who provide samples for testing at Corporation fever camps, government labs, and private labs, going untraceable despite the civic body insisting labs to collect their complete contact details.

According to officials, 11,539 people have given samples in various labs of which 160 remained untraceable. "We have field officials and a team of officials at the headquarters to trace them. All such persons are tracked and put into our system every day," an official said.
