TN students secure 99.75 per cent pass in CBSE Class 10 boards

Chennai region bagged the second position pan India by securing an overall pass percentage of 98.95 in the CBSE Class 10 board exam results which were announced on Tuesday. Students from Tamil Nadu scored 99.75 pass percentage, while the Thiruvananthapuram region stood first in the country with an overall pass percentage of 99.28.

A total of 62,260 students from TN appeared and 62,019 candidates secured pass marks. Government students in the State also secured overall pass percentage of 100%.

Students from private institutions and Kendriya Vidyalayas secured overall pass percentage of 99.62 and 99.63 respectively. With overall pass percentage of 99.79 this year, girls again outscored the boys. P Harini, a student from PSBB Senior Secondary School, KK Nagar, and one of the high scorers, who secured 499 out of 500 marks, told DT Next, “I fully focused on my studies under the guidance of my teachers. Thanks to my parents’ encouragement, I did well.” She secured centum in four subjects and got 99 in Social Science and said she would pursue higher studies in the Bio-Maths group. A Aditya Gokul, from Vels Vidyashram, Pallavaram, who secured 493 out of 500, said he used to study at least six hour a day regularly. Aditya, who also secured centum marks in Mathematics and Science, said that he wants to take up Computer Application.

In Chennai region, 1,20,099 students from 1,581 schools appeared for the exams in 448 exam centres this year. Two cases of passing by unfair means were also reported.
