Youth bludgeoned to death with grinding stone by kin
A 28-year-old man was brutally killed by his relative in a property dispute near Adambakkam on Monday. Police have arrested his cousin Edwin (32) of Adambakkam.

The deceased, Manikandan of Manadiamman Koil Street, is a birds seller. Police said there were some cases against his mother, Paulina. After her death, Manikandan stopped rowdyism and started selling birds for a living. Manikandan’s relative Edwin was also his close friend. Both of their families had differences after the partition of their ancestor land.
On Sunday night, Manikandan and Edwin consumed liquor in Edwin’s house and allegedly took ganja. In the early morning, both of them started quarrelling about the land and Edwin, who got angry, took a griding stone and smashed it on Manikandan’s head.
Manikandan suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. Adambakkam police retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem to the Chromepet government hospital. Edwin was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
