PSO to VHP state chief shoots self
A 47-year-old special sub-inspector of the Armed Reserve wing shot himself to death at Vishwa Hindu Parishad office in T Nagar on Monday.

The deceased G Sekar, a native of Katpadi who lived with his family in Maduravoyal, had been posted as the personal security guard of S Vedhantam, state president of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), the office of which is on Ramanujam Street in T Nagar.
The incident happened around 4.30 pm and when people in the office rushed to the cabin on the terrace upon hearing the firing sound, they found Sekar lying in a pool of blood. “He had shot himself with a 9mm pistol, given to him,” said police.
Mambalam police on information rushed to the spot and retrieved his body for post-mortem. A case has been registered and a suicide note reportedly retrieved from him said he resorted to the extreme step as he was unable to repay the bank loans. A police personnel who has been a PSO said Sekar was an experienced officer and his death has shocked the department. Sekar is survived by wife Sangeetha and children Vasanth and Vanisree.
This is not the first time a police personnel has shot self to death in Chennai. In March, 2018, an AR constable M Arunraj shot himself with a rifle and died at Jaya memorial and a few days later, sub-inspector Sathishkumar shot himself to death at Ayanavaram police station.
