According to Chennai Corporation sources, L Nandakumar, Chief Engineer (General), has been infected with the virus. “As he did not have any symptoms during the first couple of days, he was allowed to be under home quarantine. But, he was moved to a private hospital after he developed some symptoms,” a source said.

The source added that Nandakumar’s health condition is stable and he is participating in official meetings through video conferencing. Apart from the chief engineer, around 40 engineers and other civic officials have been infected and some of them have recovered to re-join the work.
