Officials said Vijay (23) was residing in an apartment in Old Pallavaram. Following the pandemic, outsiders were not allowed to enter the apartment complex.

On Friday, Vijay’s friends who came to visit him were stopped by the security guard, Samson (45), and were sent back. At night, Vijay asked the guard, Samson to allow them inside. But the latter replied that he would allow the friends inside only after getting permission from the residents’ association.

Enraged by this, Vijay attacked Samson and a few residents who saw it intervened and asked the youth to go home. However, not letting go, Vijay hurled three petrol bombs from his house on the first floor. Officials said a woman, who was feeding her daughter on the ground floor, had a narrow escape from being injured. No casualties were reported.

Soon after the incident, a police team from Pallavaram station reached the spot but Vijay managed to flee the house by then. The officials found nearly 15 petrol bombs from his house. A case has been registered and search is on to nab Vijay. The police are also inquiring why he had kept the petrol bombs in his house.
