The process of identifying the shops has already begun, Raju said, adding that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami would soon inaugurate the scheme.
Pointing out that there were ration shops serving more than 2,500 cardholders, the Minister said these mobile shops would help reduce congestion at the existing ones. They would be set up in congested areas, he added.
Through the network of 32,970 shops under his department, the government has provided cash relief and free ration to 98 per cent of the people during the lockdown period, Minister Raju said.
To increase economic activity in rural areas especially after the copious rains, Tamil Nadu cooperative banks have eased the process for availing farm loan. These microfinance banks are now computerised and automated so that they can work on a par with commercial banks in lending loans, he said.
For the current year, Rs, 11,000 crore has been earmarked for farm loans, and adequate quantity of fertilizers have been stocked to help the farmers. Last year, more than Rs 9,000 crore was distributed as interest-free loans, he said.
