As of now, the online portal for raising complaints with the civic body allows only English. Also, the residents could not file their grievances in Tamil through Namma Chennai mobile application.
“Even the CM Cell complaint portal allows Tamil. The civic body should enable Unicode typing in the web portal and mobile application so that everyone can raise their complaints. Now, persons who are not well versed in English find it difficult to raise complaints,” GM Shankar, a social activist said.
It may be noted that Namma Chennai App allows the residents to type in Tamil, but the concerned officials could not read the text owing to non-compatibility.
When asked a Chennai Corporation official, he assured that steps would be taken to enable Tamil in the complaint portal soon.
