The incident happened around 8.30 pm when the deceased Rajan was standing outside his house at Udhayasuriyan Nagar. Four men who reached the spot on two bikes started hacking Rajan with machetes. His wife Vasanthi, mother Santhi, aunt Sundari, uncle Sureshkumar and grandfather Arunachalam, who were sitting on the verandah were shocked to witness the attack and tried to save Rajan from the gang, injuring themselves in the process.

While Rajan died on the spot, the gang fled the scene on two-wheelers. On information, Vyasarpadi police rushed to the spot and sent Rajan’s body to Government Stanley Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and preliminary inquiry revealed that Rajan might be murdered by his own relatives with whom Rajan had an ongoing feud. A hunt has been launched for the absconding suspects.

This is the second murder to be reported in Vyasarpadi in three days. A 36-year-old man was hacked to death on Wednesday night by a four-member gang, over previous enmity.
