Drug addict assaults head constable, held

The arrested was identified as Rabik, a resident of Pallavaram. The police said that Jayalakshmi (44), who is a head constable attached to the Guindy police station was returning to her house in Pallavaram on her scooter. Near Pallavaram, Rabik intercepted the vehicle and kicked the scooter. Jayalakshmi, who lost her balance, fell on the road and Rabik started to verbally abused her.

The police said that Jayalakshmi tried to nab the boy but he went escaped from the scene. Later, she filed a complaint with the Pallavaram police. After enquiry, the police arrested Rabik and registered a case under five sections. Rabik, who is addicted to drugs, was in treatments at a rehabilitation centre and returned home recently. But he reportedly started taking drugs again.
