7 bikes stolen from different parts of city recovered

City police have arrested bike offenders in three different places and seized seven stolen bikes from them.

A 20-year-old man who has stolen at least three bikes in and around Taramani was arrested and two bikes were seized from him. After several complaints, crime inspector Salairam Sakthivel and team combed the CCTV footage and identified the accused, Tattoo Mohan of Peerkankaranai. He was secured and investigation revealed that he had also stolen a bike under Guindy police station jurisdiction. He was remanded in judicial custody on Friday. Of the two bikes, one belongs to S Palanikumar of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, who lost his bike on June 13.

Similarly, Maduravoyal police arrested two men and seized four stolen bikes. The accused Karthik (29) and Selvaraj (21) of Virugambakkam were secured during a vehicle check on Friday night and investigation revealed that the bike in their possession was a stolen one. They were secured and based on their confession three other bikes were retrieved. The duo was remanded in judicial custody on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Saidapet police arrested three persons who attacked a biker and robbed his two-wheeler. The incident happened when the victim, Arun (24) of Adyar, was on his way to meet his friend in Mandaveli. When he stopped the bike near Nandanam, three men pushed him off the bike and rode it away in broad daylight on Monday. Saidapet crime investigation team combed the CCTV footage and database of previous offenders and arrested the suspects.

They were identified as Arjun (25), Arun (22) and Suresh (21) of Kotturpuram and the robbed bike was seized.

All three were remanded in judicial custody on Saturday.
