Tension at airport as 164 returnees denied free checkup, quarantine
Tension prevailed at Chennai airport, as 164 Indians stranded in Bahrain who returned on a flight arranged by private agencies were denied free medical checkup and quarantine arranged by the State government.

The passengers argued that the agents collected money from them for the medical checkup and refused to step out of the airport, and sought action against the agents. On the assurance that action would be initiated if they lodged a formal complaint, the passengers agreed to undergo the medical test. Later, 115 of them were sent to free quarantine facility, while 49 opted for paid facility.
Similarly, 93 Indians who returned from Chicago to Chennai via were shocked to know that luggage of 49 passengers were dropped in Delhi by mistake. They surrounded the Air India counter at the airport and argued with the staff. They were assured that their luggage would reach their respective quarantine facility within a day.
In total, 1,212 passengers from different parts of the world landed in Chennai in 24 hours till Sunday morning.
